Work for the Differently-Abled
Across the world, billions of underserved people struggle to gain access to healthcare, education, and employment – human cornerstones. In particular, the WHO reports that 45% of the world’s population suffers from oral diseases, which are proven to increase the rates of diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Nicaragua is no exception.
* Dental services and oral health awareness don’t exist in rural areas.
* Too many girls of low income families struggle to pursue an education past high school, facing real barriers to a future outside the home.
* Differently-abled people, those with intellectual and physical disabilities, live in the shadows of an increasingly weakening economy that is not setup to include them.
We’ve heard and seen all of this on the ground in Nicaragua.
Thus, Sonrisas Felices contributes our grains of sand to preserve the shore of our shared humanity.
