Nicaragua is a beautiful and difficult place. Most people there struggle to gain access to healthcare, education, and employment – human cornerstones. Specifically:
* Dental services and oral health awareness do not exist in rural areas. This gap catalyzes chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. In 2019 the leaders of our local hospital told us this was their top challenge. We listened.
* Too many girls of low income families struggle to pursue an education past high school, facing steep barriers to meaningful employment outside the home.
* Too many girls of low income families struggle to pursue an education past high school, facing steep barriers to meaningful employment outside the home.
We’ve heard and seen all of this on the ground in Nicaragua.
These are not disparate interventions - healthcare, education, and employment are highly interconnected. We are tackling these challenges by seizing the opportunity to become the #1 provider of oral health services in the entire country.
